How to Get Verified on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube

How to Get Verified on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube

Verification on streaming platforms is not a status symbol you apply for separately. On Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, verification comes from claiming your artist profile through each platform's official artist portal. The process is free on all three, and anyone charging you a fee for it is selling you something you can do yourself.

Spotify: claim your profile, get the blue check

Once your music is live on Spotify, claim your artist profile through Spotify for Artists. Search for your artist name, confirm your identity through your social accounts or distributor, and submit the request. When your claim is approved, the blue verified checkmark appears next to your name automatically. Review usually takes a few business days. If something is wrong, Spotify will tell you why and how to fix it.

Apple Music: claim your artist page

Go to Apple Music for Artists, sign in with an Apple ID, and choose Request Artist Access. Search for your artist page, select one of your albums to confirm the correct profile, choose your role, and submit. Remember that only the primary artist on a release can claim the profile. Connecting your social media or distributor accounts can speed up verification. Approval usually arrives within a few days.

YouTube: earn the music note badge

YouTube verification for artists is the Official Artist Channel, marked by a music note badge. You qualify by owning a channel for one artist, having at least one official release delivered by a distributor, having a Topic channel, and meeting one additional condition such as YouTube Partner Program membership. Most independent artists request their OAC through their distributor rather than applying directly.

What to do after you are verified

Verification is the starting line, not the finish. A verified but empty profile wastes every listener who clicks through from a playlist.

If a claim is rejected, read the reason carefully before reapplying. The usual causes are fixable: a mismatch between your artist name and your social profiles, an incomplete application, or claiming a profile where you are only a featured artist. Fix the underlying issue, gather clearer proof of your identity, and submit again rather than sending the same application twice.
