Amazon Music for Artists: Setup Guide

Amazon Music is easy to overlook, but it has a feature no other streaming platform offers: Alexa. Millions of listeners ask a voice assistant to play music, and Amazon Music for Artists shows you how often that happens for your songs. Claiming your profile is free and takes a few steps.
Step 1: You need a live release
You can only claim an Amazon Music for Artists profile once you have at least one live release on Amazon Music. Your distributor delivers your music there along with the other platforms, so this usually happens automatically with your first release.
Step 2: Sign in and claim
Go to Amazon Music for Artists on the web or download the Amazon Music for Artists app. Click Get Started and sign in with an Amazon account. If you have several Amazon accounts, use the one you want tied to your artist profile. Search for your artist name, select the correct profile, and click Claim. You will be asked for your role, such as Artist, Manager, or Label, and your company or artist name. Connecting your Instagram, Facebook, or X account serves as proof that you are the official artist and can speed up approval. You should receive an email within a few days confirming access or asking for more information.
Step 3: Set up your images
Amazon's image rules are specific, so get them right the first time. Profile photos must be at least 500 by 500 pixels, and background images at least 1920 by 1440 pixels, with the artist's face in the upper 40% and centred horizontally. Files must be JPEG or PNG and no larger than 15 MB. Avoid text, logos, busy compositions, violence, explicit content, and copyrighted material you do not own. Note that Amazon Music does not currently support artist bios, so your images carry the visual weight of your page.
What the dashboard shows you
- Streaming data: total streams, listeners, top albums, and top songs.
- Alexa voice reporting: how often listeners ask Alexa to play your music.
- Geographic insights: where your listeners are located.
- Playlist tracking: where your songs appear on Amazon's curated playlists and stations.
- Fan data: a view of hyper-engaged listeners versus casual listeners.
Check your Alexa numbers after every release. Voice requests are a sign that real people remember your name, not just a playlist slot.
